Justice is Served?

In The Crucible, Abigail Williams refers to herself as “God’s finger.” This refers to how the court seems to trust the victims’ words over anything the accused people say to defend themselves. In addition, the main judge reasons that the accused cannot be trusted as their words could be provided by the devil. In a modern court today, this would never fly. All evidence and witnesses are taken into account today, and the defendant is innocent until proven guilty. It seems from the way the court treated the defendants that they didn’t even consider the possibility of innocence, just hellbent on convicting as many people as possible.

What if the Crucible were redone in a modern court setting? How many contradictions, logical fallacies, and testimonies would be rejected? What could actually serve as valid evidence?
